Compro TN60W Cloud IP Camera Review and performance testing

We have already examined and reviewed many IP cameras of different producers. The information regarding purposes and usage cases of IP camera you can read in the article TRENDnet TV-IP751WIC. All products of this market segment are similar to the hardware: somewhere picture quality is worse, somewhere better but all of them are capable of transmitting video stream on PC or internal server. A telling argument for selecting one of these solutions should be the quality and functionality of the proposed software and attendant online services.

To examine the capabilities of IP camera and software services COMPRO Company provided us with COMPRO TN60W model.

The complete line of IP cameras of this company has the ability of connection to the Internet services of remote monitoring and control. The camera is designed for video observation in the user’s market segment and has several professional features.

COMPRO TN60W

Also it is important to note that tested before Compro IP70 model provided a good resultWe didn’t found any negative sides. The most important thing is the correct initial setup. Now let's examine directly COMPRO TN60W camera and its individual characteristics.

COMPRO TN60W

The product is shipped in a box of blue and white colors with light green markers. On the front side there is a transparent opening. To the left there is information about main services for the product (surveillance for home, animals, baby, sick and aged people). There is a sticker Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11n which indicates the presence of the supplied external module USB-Wi-Fi.

COMPRO TN60W

On the both sides there are  main characteristics of the model COMPRO TN60W in 12 languages:

• support of dual streams (M-JPEG and H.264);
• day and night modes with built-in IR LEDs;
• two-way audio communication with built-in microphone and speaker;
• motion detection and event notification in real time;
• support C4Home cloud video monitoring platform and mobile application for viewing the video on your smartphone or tablet

COMPRO TN60W

On the back side of the box you’ll find the information about three stages of camera installation for observation using a smartphone or tablet. The special stress is laid on easy configuration of the functionality through the C4Home application for mobile devices.

The company's engineers tried to make the packaging quite noticeable that’s why they have put the key features and attractive parameters of this solution on the sides. This will help to make a right choice.

Packaging

COMPRO TN60W

After opening the box you’ll find the following content:

  • Power supply unit;
  • Ethernet cable;
  • Two screws and wall-plugs for wall mounted installation;
  • Software disk;
  • Manual;
  • USB-Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11n module.

COMPRO TN60W

Model COMPRO TN60W is compact in comparison with the previous tested camera Compro IP70. It is thinner and almost did not change its functionality. On the front panel below the lens there are several important elements:

  1. light sensor;
  2. IR LEDs;
  3. Speaker hole.

In the top left corner is a small LED which indicates the devices blue status at a quick glance. And lower there is a microphone hole.

COMPRO TN60W

We should thank the engineers for universal design and the stand which significantly increases rotational angle of the camera lens relative to its mounting points.

The body of the camera is mounted onto a swivel joint to allow it to be positioned at 360° of the optical axis. This allows you to focus the camera lens in the range of 360° in the horizontal plane and stoop it about 120° in the vertical plane.

COMPRO TN60W

The base has two holes for screws to be fitted. Due to special hole the device can mounted even on the ceiling. Such stand functionality simplifies the point for the necessary subject or location.

COMPRO TN60W

The backside of IP camera contains:

  1. area for stand mounting;
  2. RJ-45 socket;
  3. power socket;
  4. QR-code for C4Home service connection;
  5. network activity indicator;
  6. air grill for hot air removal;
  7. RESET button.

COMPRO TN60W

One side face has the slot for micro SD installation which is used for the record of the video stream.

COMPRO TN60W

If you plan to use the camera COMPRO TN60W for home network or small office network via WI-FI you should insert USB-Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11n module into USB-connector.  After that you need to add the power 220V. Such simplicity and absence of need to extend the cable connection are the strong advantages of such device.

For versatility and if you do not have Wi-Fi-network the device can connect to the router via Ethernet-cable. Such method is much easier but it means network cabling.

According to the manufacturer the supplied software supports OS Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista SP1 and Windows 7. With the release of a new version ComproView 2.0.6 the support Mac OS 10.6 (Live view in MJPEG mode) was added. The absent of the support of Linux-systems upsets little bit but the ability to control the camera and imaging via HTTP, as well as support for various internet browsers allow to use this solution in most modern computers.

We should also note the support of image output on various types of PC (desktop and laptops with Internet Explorer 8.0 and Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome, etc with installed VLC-plag-in) as well as mobile phones. C4Hom service will provide an opportunity of video stream viewing. After software installation via App Store or Google play and the check-in of own product as well as simple setting of personal parameters the user can observe and control the operation of the camera from anywhere in the world.

A good advantage COMPRO TN60W use is the presence of infra-red backlight that provides visibility in the dark room up to 6 meters. Fast Ethernet and Wi-Fi are used as network interfaces. In particular the wireless connection of 802.11n standard has a high data transfer rate (up to 300 Mbit/s) and sufficiently wide network coverage range that can transmit video in higher quality and use many cameras in one surveillance system.

COMPRO TN60W can record video with a resolution of 640 x 480 (VGA) at 30 fps, as well as provides two-way audio communication and has a ten-fold digital zoom. Professional features of this model are the ability to record when motion is detected, scheduled record, e-mail sending and the ability of text, date and time input on the image.

The device is intended for indoor use and not for everyone. There is a narrow temperature range (040°C).

Camera software installation

An important requirement is the ease of installation and setting. The last function often falls on the accompanying software supplied together with device. Let’s consider a step-by-step setup that runs from the bundled CD-ROM.

COMPRO TN60W

At once after CD insert the program offers to select the language.

COMPRO TN60W

The next step is device selection into internal network. To the left there is detected camera and to the right its parameters and the image.

COMPRO TN60W

After camera choice there is password setting.

COMPRO TN60W

Then you need perform device initial setting: put name, interface language and time.

COMPRO TN60W

Also you should indicate the usage of IP camera for C4Home-service.

COMPRO TN60W

Specify the way of IP address receiving.

COMPRO TN60W

In case of wireless usage you need to setup Wi-Fi connection. First of all you need to select the network for connection with internal segment.

COMPRO TN60W

Select the correct encryption method and password for desired access point/router.

COMPRO TN60W

If you already have login for C4Home service you can connect your camera to it and receive the picture to the mobile device. Also here you can create a new account.

COMPRO TN60W

With this aim you need to fill a special form.

COMPRO TN60W

COMPRO TN60W model supports DDNS setup. This option will give the access to connect to the camera according its name.

COMPRO TN60W

The last marker provides the user a comparison table of camera changes sand settings made due to step-by-step installation. You should check and press “Next”.

COMPRO TN60W

A short period of time will be required for setting saving and after that you will get the final result.

COMPRO TN60W

Then you can follow the setting of the next camera.

COMPRO TN60W

We think that such simple step-by-step algorithm won’t cause any difficulties during the first camera setting. Everything is quite logically. Also in addition you have small and clear description of the actions.
