Design and elements layout

QUMO Quest 507 HD

Externally the smartphone QUMO Quest HD 507 is a bright representative of the so-called classical "smart" phones. Such a design can be found everywhere in the line of mobile devices of many manufacturers, which certainly speaks of its very popularity among potential buyers. Despite the fast-growing market, most consumers still favors though already familiar, but at the same time very practical forms. Thus, we have a classic rectangular monoblock with slightly rounded edges and a solid monolithic base.

As for the 5-inch device the smartphone has rather big dimensions (142.9 x 71 x 6.6 mm) and a noticeable weight (165 g), which undoubtedly affects the usability of the gadget. Under long-term cooperation the palm a little tired and you have a desire to seize the apparatus with the other hand. In addition, due to the small thickness and relatively large mass the smartphone is hard to rise from the table (especially if the fingers are a little wet) as the metal body tries to slip. On the other hand, it doesn’t take too much time to get used for such aspect.

The base of the housing QUMO Quest HD 507 is made of high quality aluminum and has a pleasant feel soft-touch coating. Although it has a matte texture, but pretty good collects fingerprints, so requires extra care. On the back side of the case this metal base smoothly flows into the sidewall, thereby pointedly emphasizes the small thickness of the gadget, and also gives it more rigidity. Two metal inserts of dark matt plastic dilute such ensemble. Under them antennas of communication modules are safely hidden.

The smartphone is presented only in black, which is designed to focus on its practicality and at the same time emphasize the business purpose.

Front side QUMO Quest HD 507 is completely closed by protective glass. It has a good anti-glare filter, but at the same time has no any oleophobic coating, so after a few minutes of screen smartphone ubiquitous covered with fingerprints. On the screen is glued film factory, which also pretty bad copes with contamination and also very quickly covered with small scratches (even by a soft microfiber cloth).

According to the modern standards, the frame around the display can be considered quite normal: 17 mm top and bottom, and 4.5 mm on each side. This in no way affects the usability gadget, by contrast, allows for more convenient clasp without being afraid to climb fingers on the screen.

Above the display the smartphone has the following elements: proximity and lighting sensors, LED display, multimedia speaker grille and the front camera lens. Below the screen are three touch buttons: "Back", "Home" and "Menu". Unfortunately, they do not have a backlight.

The top of the unit has a 3.5mm audio jack for headset, and at the bottom you will find micro-USB port and a small microphone hole.

The right lateral side of the smartphone contains a dual tray for Micro-SIM card, while the left side has the power button and volume rocker.

As already stated above, the back side QUMO Quest HD 507 consists of three parts: an aluminum base and two plastic inserts. The upper inset is the main camera lens, single LED flash and a small hole of optional microphone. The bottom part has a grille of multimedia speaker. The metal part of the rear side of the smartphone is decorated with a small logo of the manufacturer.

We don’t have major complaints about the build quality of the smartphone QUMO Quest HD 507. All parts fit tightly: no noticeable backlash, no gaps. Due to the monolithic body the gadget has good hardness and does not give a moderate pressure deformation, despite the large size of the apparatus. The image on display has strains or other possible artifacts.

QUMO Quest 507 HD

QUMO Quest Model 507 HD is equipped with a good 5-inch IPS-screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Pixel density is at the level of 294 ppi, which can be considered as a very good indicator. Picture detailing is good and quite clear. It is enough for a comfortable display all sorts of information including the fine fonts.

QUMO Quest 507 HD

Traditionally display for this type of matrix has a high-quality color reproduction, good contrast and good viewing angles. It is quite interesting that in case of the shift of horizontal or vertical angle, the display is quite bright and readable. However, if you look at the screen at a slight angle on the diagonal, the colors are inverted and immediately become faded.

The tempered glass protects the smartphone screen against damage and chipping. It is not oleophobic coating, but there is a good anti-glare filter. In general, the display unit device is made using the technology of OGS, which is characterized by the absence of the air gap between the glass and the screen, which has a positive effect on the clarity and image detailing.

Display backlight is very good and has a good range of adjustment that allows you to use your smartphone as a bright sunny day and in low light conditions.

Built-in touch substrate can recognize up to 5 simultaneous keystrokes. In general, the screen is quite sensitive and responsive even on light touch, but their definition sometimes happens a bit late or not recorded at all, which causes some inconvenience. Despite the lack of oleophobic coating, sliding fingers on the protective glass is quite pleasant and does not cause noticeable discomfort. Unfortunately, work in gloves in not supported.

QUMO Quest 507 HD

QUMO Quest Model 507 HD is equipped with very good multimedia speakers, which is located on the back of the unit in the lower right corner. It's pretty loud and can provide high-quality sound. And in order the sound not to be muted when the smartphone is display up, on both sides of the speaker are special supports that lift it above the surface. The sound range has high and medium frequencies, and there is a hint of a nice bass. Of course, the latter appears only when playing certain songs. In general, the volume of multimedia speakers is enough for gaming, watching videos, calls and notifications, without the use of additional audio devices.

The presence of 3.5mm audio jack also allows you to connect external devices. Thus, for example, the bundled wired headset has a good and clear sound. It is quite suitable for making calls or listening to plain songs. In addition, we tested the smartphone is paired with our "laboratory" headphones Kingston HyperX Cloud. As we expected, the sound was much richer and more voluminous, and frequency range acquired an additional depth and contours.

The earpiece is loud and has very good quality. It copes well with its direct task (given the quality of the operator and the state of the interlocutor), providing a clean and pleasant voice.

QUMO Quest HD 507 is equipped with a standard set of digital cameras: the main and front.

QUMO Quest 507 HD

The main camera is represented by 8-megapixel module with an aperture of f/2.2, autofocus and one-section LED flash. It is capable of recording 720p video at 30 fps. Also, there is a support for HDR-shooting mode.

Based on the above parameters, you should not count on the high quality of the captured photo and video materials. On the whole, the picture looks pretty well and sometimes even quite nice, but in some cases the image lacks sharpness and color reproduction is present in a clear imbalance: the central part of the frame is shifted to the side of purple hues, while the edges of the photo acquire slightly greenish tint. If you select the correct angle and optimum lighting conditions, as well as spend some time in the settings menu, then you can expect a very decent results. In contrast, the operation of HDR-mode is quite high. It copes with its direct responsibilities: pretty good lightens dark areas of captured frame.

QUMO Quest 507 HD

The front camera supports 2-megapixel with an aperture of f/2.8 and a fixed focus, which is capable of recording video at 480p at a rate of 30 fps. The camera copes with the implementation of various kinds of web conferencing and video calls.

Software that is responsible for control the camera of smartphone QUMO Quest 507 HD features by concise design and intuitive interface. Application menu is quite simple, without any frills or intricate sections: all functions are at your fingertips, and their location is remembered after the first use. As with most devices of this type, you can adjust the exposure, adjust the white balance and set the value of the ISO. Also, for ease of use in software menus there are several preset shooting modes perfect for beginners or people who do not want to understand the intricacies of photo and video craft, and have a great desire to proceed immediately to the process of shooting.
