GIGABYTE GV-N75TWF2OC-2GI Graphics card Review and testing

Recently GIGABYTE Technology company which is one of the largest suppliers of graphics accelerators had presented own graphics card based on productive and energy-efficiency NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti. The product is called GIGABYTE GV-N75TWF2OC-2GI and differs from the “non-reference” solutions of other manufacturers by original set of ports of interface panel, proprietary two-fan cooling system and impressive factory overclocking.

It is important to specify the increased frequencies of graphic processor: from 1020/1085MHz to 1215/1294MHz. This fact should provide the significant performance growth in comparison with reference analogue. Also one more interesting thing is the presence of two HDMI 1.4 ports.

Packaging and content


GIGABYTE GV-N75TWF2OC-2GI is shipped in a color carton box with stylish owl picture. Traditionally this bird is a symbol of wisdom that’s why the marketers of GIGABYTE company make hints that this video accelerator is a balanced choice regarding performance, price and power consumption.  Also here is a note about a complete support of monitors with resolution 4K Ultra HD and refresh rate of 60Hz and about the availability of factory overclocking.


The reverse side of the box contains the key features of the card. The first is proprietary cooling system WINDFORCE 2X equipped with two quiet fans, 6mm copper heat pipe and cooler with special plate incline that improves the performance of heat removal. The second advantage is the correspondence to proprietary concept Ultra Durable 2, i.e. the availability of solid capacitors with increased lifetime, field-effect transistors and chokes with ferrite core. 

Also here are the minimal system requirements. The most important is capacity of PSU at least 400W at minimal load of +12V line at the level 24A.


One side part contains the technical parameters and additional features of the product:

  • 2 GB of graphic memory GDDR5;
  • 128-bit bus for data exchange between memory and graphics chip;
  • PCI Express 3.0 x16 socket;
  • Proprietary software for overclocking and monitoring (OS Guru II);
  • Complete support of API Microsoft DirectX 11.2 (Shader Model 5.0);
  • 2x HDMI 1.4.


Set of GIGABYTE GV-N75TWF2OC-2GI  delivery  includes only the most important:

  • Adapter for connection of additional power from two 4-pin Molex (PATA) to one 6-pin PCIe;
  • Software disk and drivers;
  • User’s manual.

The only missed thing is adapter DVI↔D-Sub because such analog socket is absent on interface panel. Although it is outmoded but still widely used.


For image output there is the following set of interfaces:

  • 1 х Dual-link DVI-I;
  • 1 х DVI-D;
  • 2 х HDMI 1.4.

Graphics card includes an original image output sockets. It is connected with that all modern graphics accelerators are complete with HDMI 1.4 sockets and to connect the monitor with resolution 4096 x 2160 and refresh rate of 60Hz it is required to use 2 ports at the same time. Also these are gold-plated connectors that improve their durability and quality of signal transfer.

The second advantage of GIGABYTE GV-N75TWF2OC-2GI is simultaneous connection up to 4 monitors or TVs to create multi-monitor configuration.

Design and circuitry


Graphics accelerator is carried on a very compact circuit board with height 112mm. Componentry looks like “reference model” but with some small differences. It’s important to note that protective frame around graphics chip is absent that’s why the dismantling and installation of cooling system should be done carefully.



Graphics card power supply is performed in accordance with reference three-phase scheme: two are intended for graphic processor and one is used for memory chips. As it was said in accordance with proprietary concept Ultra Durable 2 only two high quality components are used. They are field-effect transistors with low channel resistance in open state, chokes with ferrite core and solid capacitors.

As for phase controller, chip with marking 81172 is applied. Unfortunately we could not find the information about this chip.


Reference model NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti has TPD at a level 60W that’s why it doesn’t require the additional power. GIGABYTE version has significant factory overclocking and big power consumption. That’s why it is equipped with additional 6-pin connector. Connection and disconnection of this socket is comfortable. 


On the backside of graphics accelerator the cooling system exceeds the limits of the board. Such construction allows to blow out the cooler more efficient


GIGABYTE GV-N75TWF2OC-2GI is based on the graphics chip NVIDIA GM107 (Maxwell) which is made according 28-nm process. It consists of 5 SMM-active units, 640 shader processors (or CUDA cores in accordance with the terms of NVIDIA), 16 rasterization units and 40 texture units. The graphic processor operates at frequency 1215 MHz in the nominal mode and 1294 MHz using NVIDIA GPU Boost 2.0 technology.


The video card is equipped with 2 GB memory collected by four chips SK Hynix H5GC4H24MFR with capacity 512MB each. Their nominal effective frequency is 5000 MHz but in the tested model this value was increased up to 5400 MHz. Data exchange between the graphics chip and memory is performed via 128-bit bus with carrying capacity 86.4 GB/s which corresponds the reference value.

Cooling system



GIGABYTE GV-N75TWF2OC-2GI is equipped with a proprietary cooling system WINDFORCE 2X which takes two slots for expansion cards. The total length of the graphics accelerator in this case is 202 mm.



The top part is a plastic enclosure with two low-noise fans with translucent propeller. The blades (Power Logic PLD08010S12H) have the characteristics of 12V and 0.25 A, and the diameter is 74 mm.



To organize heat removal one long heat pipe with diameter of 6 mm is used. It is in direct contact with the GPU through a thin layer of thermal paste and pierces fan edges on both sides. The cooler is assembled of 36 aluminum nickel plates and has a special step design that promotes the ejection of hot air outside housing through the vents on the interface panel.



A heat pipe is in close contact with the cooling edges but it is soldered neither to them nor the aluminum area in the center. Also, it is not covered with a layer of nickel. It means it undergoes to oxidation which may make worse the heat conducting properties during operation.

Also we would like to note that the top of the aluminum base there are two thermal pads clearly visible designed for more efficient heat removal from the two memory chips. Two other chips don’t contact with a cooling system.

Now let's move on to testing the efficiency of the cooling system by using FurMark program.


The sensor reading was performed in the utility MSI Afterburner 3.0.0 Beta 19. In automatic mode of fan speed control at maximum load GPU had warmed up to 45°C. Cooler according to indications monitoring worked with 35% of its maximum speed which is 1698 rpm. Noise can be described as “below average”. At the same time it was very comfortable for long-term operation.


After forced installation the cooler's rotational speed to maximum (3420 rpm) the temperature of the graphics core dropped to 40°C but even in this mode its noise was suitable for durable use.


In idle mode GPU automatically switched on the power saving mode which led to a decrease in heat removal and power consumption. In this state its temperature is lowered nearly to room and not exceeding 25°C.
