HIS company continues to please us with a wide variety of modifications of products AMD. This time we will talk about the version AMD Radeon R7 265, which was presented as the main rival of NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti, the first graphics card NVIDIA on the microarchitecture NVIDIA Maxwell. Tested modification AMD Radeon R7 265 compares favorably with the presence of the original proprietary cooling system IceQ X² and high-quality circuitry. As for the printed circuit board and power supply subsystem, since AMD has not created a reference sample, we cannot talk about any differences from the standard. But the clock speed of the GPU and memory fully comply with the recommended indicators.

Judging by the marking (H5GQ2H24AFR-R0C), their nominal frequency is 6000 MHz, although in our case it was reduced to 5600 MHz. This allows us to hope for a good overclocking potential. Data exchange between the graphics core and memory is realized through a 256-bit bus, which is capable of passing 179.2 GB of information per second.

Cooling system

According to the title of the graphics adapter, a proprietary cooler IceQ X² is applied for the cooling. The total length of the graphics card with installed cooling system, which occupies two expansion slots, is 228 mm (as measured in our lab).

The cooler consists of a massive radiator, which uses 36 nickel-plated aluminum plates, two fans with impeller diameter of 75 mm and a plastic casing that covers the entire structure above.

There are two fans labeled «GA81B2U» of Apistek production. Their performance rated voltage is 12 V and the current strength is 0.38 A, which results in a power of 4.56 W.

For a more uniform distribution of heat over the whole area of the radiator three are heat pipes made of copper with a diameter of 6 mm. They are not covered by a layer of nickel, which is designed to prevent the oxidation of copper in operation and the subsequent decrease in the efficiency of heat transfer.

The GPU is in contact through copper base of the cooling system via a small layer of thermal paste.

Under the automatic fan speed control, the maximum load graphics core was warmed up to 60 degrees and cooler worked with the 40% of its maximum capacity. The noise was below average. It felt weak compared to other components of the test system.

After forced increase of the fan speed to the maximum level, the GPU temperature dropped to 51 degrees. It is logical that the noise at the same time was higher than the average level and become uncomfortable for prolonged use. By tradition we note that a similar mode of cooling system operation will be claimed only in the case of manual overclocking, so in everyday use you won’t have a high level of noise.
