Palit GeForce GT 730 (2048MB DDR3) graphics card: review and testing

Recently, we met with the version of the graphics card NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 based on the graphic processor NVIDIA GK208. This material continues to familiarity with this series of graphics cards, but it will contain the description of a younger model based on the core NVIDIA GF108 (Fermi). We will use a low-profile graphics card Palit GeForce GT 730 2048MB DDR3 (NEAT7300HD41-1085F), equipped with dual-slot cooling system as a test sample.

It consists of 96 unified shader pipelines (or CUDA cores in accordance with the terms of NVIDIA), 16 texture units and 4 ROPs. Rated frequency of its operation is 700 MHz.

Also, this card is equipped with 2GB of DDR3 memory manufactured by SK Hynix. As mentioned above, it operates at a nominal frequency of 535 MHz (effective - 1070 MHz), which is below the reference value of 900 MHz (1800 MHz - the effective index).

Cooling system

Cooling system of Palit NEAT7300HD41-1085F occupies two slots for expansion cards. The length of the graphics accelerator with fixed cooling system is 164 mm (as measured in our lab). The upper part of the cooler is a plastic cover that is designed for organizations to optimize air flow and air flow of the radiator.

We used the program MSI Afterburner 4.0.0 to monitor performance during tests. During automatic speed control of the fan blades, the maximum load, the GPU is warmed to 42°C. Cooler operation was quiet, turning only 30% of its maximum capacity (1520 rpm).

Forced increase of the fan speed up to 100% (3520 rpm) reduced the GPU temperature to 36°C. At the same time the noise of the cooling system remained at an average level and was comfortable enough for long-term work at the computer.

In idle mode the GPU temperature dropped to 26°C and the cooler worked quietly, as its speed was 1520 rpm.
