Graphics card ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 Ti (ZT-70603-10M) with 1 GB GDDR5: review and testing

Recently we’ve introduced you to the new graphics accelerator of the company ZOTAC, based on NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750. This material will be devoted to the study the product based on the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti called ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 Ti (ZT-70603-10M). The key difference is is the support only 1 GB GDDR5-memory.

As is well known, the reference version of NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti is equipped with support of 2GB of GDDR5-memory. However, competition in this segment is serious because AMD has introduced the model AMD Radeon R7 260X with 1 and 2 GB of video memory, and AMD Radeon R7 265 with 2GB of GDDR5. Therefore, NVIDIA's partners have also decided to make a more accessible version of NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti, equipping it with 1 GB of memory. Previously we tested only 2 GB options, so it is very interesting to know how much affect the reduced the amount of video memory on performance level.

Packaging and content

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 Ti (ZT-70603-10M)

Model ZOTAC ZT-70603-10M comes in a small vertically oriented package of thick cardboard. Its design has company ZOTAC colors: black and orange. On the front side there is a large manufacturer's logo, as well as given the presence of complete extended warranty and utilities for monitoring and overclocking (ZOTAC FireStorm). Do note the support of only 1 GB of GDDR5-memory, while the reference analog memory capacity is up to 2 GB.

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 Ti (ZT-70603-10M)

The reverse side of the box has the description of the key technologies that support ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 Ti (ZT-70603-10M):

  • physics processing slide NVIDIA PhysX, function to improve of field game graphics HBAO and temporal smoothing technology NVIDIA TXAA; software to optimize the performance of games (NVIDIA GeForce Experience);
  • streaming of games on portable console or tablet NVIDIA SHIELD.

At the bottom there is an additional list of supported technologies and the description of delivery set, as well as the minimum system requirements. The manufacturer recommends to install the graphics card to a computer with at least 2 GB of RAM and power supply with capacity at least 400 W (with a load capacity of +12V line no less than 20 A).

Inside the box the graphics accelerator is packed with anti-static bag and secured with the help of a cardboard form that allows you to protect it against damage during transportation.

The kit includes manual, warranty card, adapter DVI↔D-Sub, CD with software and drivers, as well as the sticker on the computer case. This kit is best for graphic accelerator in this price range. The fact that the product doesn’t require additional power and technology NVIDIA SLI is not supported, so the appropriate adapter and bridge are not required.

Interface panel ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 Ti (ZT-70603-10M) is equipped with the following connectors:

  • 1 x DVI-I;
  • 1 x DVI-D;
  •  1 x mini-HDMI.

Together with the supplied adapter DVI↔D-Sub these connectors allow to connect both analog and digital display. If there is a need to connect the TV or monitor via a HDMI cable, you will have to purchase a separate adapter for plug mini-HDMI.

Design and circuitry

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 Ti (ZT-70603-10M)

The graphics card is made on a compact circuit board with height of 112 mm. black PCB and the reference layout components are applied. The graphics processor is equipped with a green protective frame, which can protect the chip from chipping and damage during installation and dismantling of the cooling system.

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 Ti (ZT-70603-10M)

The power subsystem of ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 Ti (ZT-70603-10M) is performed on the three-phase scheme: two are intended for the GPU and one for the memory chip. This scheme is fully consistent with the reference, which has already operated well on the modifications of graphics cards NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti of other manufacturers.

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 Ti (ZT-70603-10M)

Energy consumption does not exceed the capacity of the slot PCI Express 3.0 x16 (75 W), so the connectors for additional power connection on the PCB are absent. On the reverse side of the PCB there are four screws that secure the cooling system. There is a small label with the basic technical information.

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 Ti (ZT-70603-10M)

The graphics card is based on 28nm graphics chip NVIDIA GM107-400 (microarchitecture NVIDIA Maxwell). It consists of 5 active SMM-blocks, 640 CUDA cores, 40 texture units and 16 ROP units. GPU is clocked at 1033 MHz in the nominal mode and 1111 MHz at activation of technology NVIDIA GPU Boost 2.0.

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 Ti (ZT-70603-10M)

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 Ti (ZT-70603-10M) has 1 GB of memory type GDDR5 collected with four chips SK Hynix H5GQ2H24AFR with capacity 256 MB each. They work on the effective frequency 5400 MHz, and the exchange of data with graphics chip is realized through a 128-bit bus with a bandwidth of 86.4 GB/s.

Cooling system

Proprietary cooling system of graphics card stands by a bright appearance and occupies two slots for expansion cards. The total length of the graphics accelerator is 166 mm (as measured in our lab).

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 Ti (ZT-70603-10M)

For blowing and heat dissipating is used fan EVERFLOW T129215SH (12 V, 300 mA) on the basis of sleeve bearings with orange translucent blades with a diameter of 85 mm. According to the data, the maximum permissible speed of rotation is 3000 rpm, the noise level of 33 dB. It is screwed to the radiator and at the top is covered with a protective plastic cover.

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 Ti (ZT-70603-10M)

Aluminum radiator, which is in direct contact with the graphics core has a rounded shape with a large number of edges. This design is intended for rapid cooling with the cooler, so the majority of the heat load goes directly into the computer case. As you can see, the manufacturer has decided not to use the copper heat pipes, thereby reducing the final cost of the device.

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 Ti (ZT-70603-10M)

Now let's examine the efficiency of the cooling system at maximum load. In automatic rotation mode, the GPU temperature did not exceed 51°C. Cooler was very quiet, operating only 33% of its maximum speed (1000 rpm).

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 Ti (ZT-70603-10M)

Forced rotation speed of the blades to the maximum available level (2500 rpm) has reduced the temperature of the GPU to 43°C. Noise of cooling system has exceeded the average level, but it is acceptable for continuous operation of the computer.

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 Ti (ZT-70603-10M)

In idle mode the graphics core operates at a frequency of 135 MHz, and its temperature does not exceed 26°C. When the fan speed was at level of 1000 rpm the noise of cooling system remained virtually indistinguishable compared to other system components.
