Graphics card ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 (ZT-70701-10M) with 1 GB GDDR5: review and testing

As we know graphics cards based on NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 can be fitted with both one and two gigabytes of video memory standard GDDR5. The first version is little cheaper. ZOTAC company decided to expand its product lineup by modification of the above-mentioned graphics card using little more affordable models with one gigabyte of GDDR5-memory. We are talking about the ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 (ZT-70701-10M).

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 (ZT-70701-10M)

To begin, it is worth noting that at the time of preparation of the material the models of series NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 with one gigabyte of GDDR5-memory are available for sale on average for $ 135, which roughly $ 15 cheaper than the two-gigabyte versions. For this price range this difference is quite noticeable.

As you can see, there is a small factory overclocking of the GPU, which instead of the recommended 1020 MHz operates on 1033 MHz (increase of 1.3%), and taking into account the work of technology NVIDIA GPU Boost 2.0 its average value is 1111 MHz instead of reference 1085 MHz.

Packaging and content

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 (ZT-70701-10M)

Packaging of graphics card is a traditional cardboard box which is decorated with printed labels in the company's colors ZOTAC: black and orange. On the front side, besides the names of the manufacturer and model of the device, it is worth noting the mention of the type and capacity of video memory, as well as support of DirectX 11. Closer to the center are two logos, indicating the presence of an extended five-year warranty, as well as utility of company Firestorm.

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 (ZT-70701-10M)

The reverse side of the box has a brief description of the graphics card, as well as a list of supported technologies. And the emphasis is made to the description of the technologies of company NVIDIA, which are integrated into all boosters Series NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750, but not exclusive to the model ZOTAC ZT-70701-10M.

List of system requirements is also located on the back of the packaging. Based on these recommendations, the power supply must have a capacity of at least 400 W (load capacity of the 12V line should be at least 20 A), and additional PCIe power cables are not required.

The box with the card includes not only the standard instructions and a CD with software, but also a nice bonus in the form of an adapter DVI-I to D-Sub, and, therefore, the only accessory that you have to buy will be adapter mini-HDMI to HDMI.

To display an image the graphics adapter has a reference set of video outputs:

  • 1 x DVI-I;
  • 1 x DVI-D;
  • 1 x mini-HDMI.

The following resolutions are supported:

  • Digital up to 4096 x 2160;
  • Analog up to 2048 x 1536.

Design and circuitry

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 (ZT-70701-10M)

Graphics Card ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 (ZT-70701-10M) is performed on a compact circuit board with a black matte finish and reference design.

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 (ZT-70701-10M)

GPU's power is provided according reference three-phase scheme: two phases for the GPU and one for the memory chips. At the same time the circuitry includes only high-quality components: ferrite chokes and solid capacitors with improved efficiency and longer life.

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 (ZT-70701-10M)

The power subsystem is implemented on a digital PWM controller NCP81172. It supports control of up to two phases, and has a number of protections: OCP, OVP and UVP. Additionally it supports technology Thermal Shutdown Protection to protect against overheating.

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 (ZT-70701-10M)

As is the case with the reference NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750, power supply is provided exclusively by means of the slot PCI Express 3.0 x16. While the PCB has a seat for the 6-pin power connector.

The reverse side of the printed circuit board is remarkable by the mounting screws of the cooling system, as well as several components of the power subsystem.

The base of new item is the graphics chip NVIDIA GM107-300 (Maxwell) made according 28-nm technology process. It includes 4 active SMM-blocks, 512 unified shader pipeline (CUDA-cores according to the terminology of NVIDIA), 16 ROPs and 32 texture units. In nominal operation the base frequency of the graphics core was increased to 1033 MHz, and thanks to the support of technology NVIDIA GPU Boost 2.0 in turbo mode its speed is 1111 MHz.

Total capacity of graphics cards memory is 1 GB. It is collected by 4 chips ELPIDA W2032BBBG-6A-F with capacity 256 MB each. According to the documentation, their nominal effective frequency is 6 GHz, but the manufacturer has reduced it to the reference 5000 MHz (5012 MHz according to the utility GPU-Z). Exchange of data between the graphics core and memory is realized via 128-bit bus, which is capable of passing 80.2 GB of information per second.

Cooling system

The novelty has a fan of company Apistek labeled as «GA92S2M». According to the letter «S» in the title, it is based on sleeve bearing.

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 (ZT-70701-10M)

During automatic speed control of the fan blades (1100 rpm), under the maximum load the graphics core was warmed up to 52 degrees, and the cooler, worked while only 35% of its maximum capacity. At the same time the noise level can be described as very quiet. It does not stand out against other components and does not hurt you in the course of work for the PC.

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 (ZT-70701-10M)

Under the maximum speed of the fan blades (2600 rpm), the GPU temperature dropped to 43 degrees. The noise level can be characterized as a slightly above average. It was quite acceptable for permanent use.

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 750 (ZT-70701-10M)

In case of load absence the operating frequency of the graphics core and memory was automatically reduced, allowing them to reduce power consumption and heat. In this mode, the GPU temperature did not exceed 28 degrees, and the fan rotates almost silently (1025 rpm).
