Packaging and content

Lenovo Z50-75 Lenovo Z50-75

The laptop comes in a classic eco package made of ordinary cardboard. Printing is traditionally minimalist: a few logos and stickers with information and technical specs. Components of the test sample Lenovo Z50-75 includes only the minimum necessary to get started: battery, compact power supply with  cable to connect to a network, a CD with drivers and technical documentation. Also there is an additional range of accessories and services that can be purchased separately. The full list of them can be found on the manufacturer's website.

Design and elements layout

Design of Lenovo Z50-75 made is classic but at the same time it is pleasant with familiar features that are typical for this manufacturer. New product is available in traditional colors black and white. Dimensions (384 x 265 x 25 mm) and weight (2.4 kg) for a 15.6-inch mobile computer is also quite standard. Laptop lid is made of velvety matte plastic, changing its color depending on the lighting conditions. Plastic provides a pleasant tactile feel and an almost complete absence of fingerprints and smudges (depending on the lighting conditions). But it is sensitive to mechanical impact: it is very easy to scratch. Closer to the side faces the lid has a smooth curvature that adds elegance. In the upper right corner is a brilliant logo «Lenovo».

Side faces of the laptop are recessed and have a color distinct from the lid and bottom. The last is made from matte plastic with a characteristic embossed texture. Is based on a flat (with vents) variable panel (fastened by three screws) for easy access to internal components of the system in case of replacement or cleaning service. In addition, there are four large legs to secure the device on flat surfaces. Closer to the front on each side are holes for sound output from stereo speakers. On the opposite side is a compartment for the battery and a sticker with the general technical information.

The front panel has splay profile that visually reduces the thickness of the laptop. Here are only two LEDs: "Power" and "Battery". The rear side has only a hinge of the display unit.

Lenovo Z50-75

The left side face has: rectangular connector for the power adapter, the microscopic button to launch Lenovo OneKey Recovery, wide perforated area for the heated air removal, connectors D-Sub (VGA) and RJ45 (with hinged lid), port HDMI, one USB 2.0 and USB 3.0.

The last is closer to the left side. It has a silver edging and considerable size. There is also a sticker indicating the model and key features. On the opposite side is a logo «AMD FX», which gives the user an idea about the use a hardware platform.

Full keyboard unit a deep. Closer to the display is a kind of protruding with the logo «Dolby», visually extend appearance of the working area and serves as a receptacle for the battery. To the left is a power button (without highlighting), which has a tight and precise pressing that protects it from accidental operation. Along the contour of the working area is an edge, which acts as a support for the display unit.

Lenovo Z50-75

The display unit is attached to the base by means of two loops on each side to ensure reliable fixation. Despite this, to open Lenovo Z50-75 is quite easily by one hand. The maximum opening angle is standard (about 135) and is sufficient for most usage scenarios. Bezel around the display made of glossy plastic has some disadvantages.

Here around the contour are rubber legs to protect the matrix in the closed position. In the top center is the eye of webcam (with LED) and two stereo microphones.

If we talk about the overall rigidity of the structure, it is average. Body is subjected to torsion even in case of a slight impact, but it is not critical and barely noticeable in everyday environments. When attempting to squeeze (including n the keyboard unit) laptop is be deformed. Build quality is good: backlash and gaps are absent; no creaks under normal use.

Lenovo Z50-75

In general Lenovo Z50-75 is a classic laptop with a nice and quite stylish design. It will equally good look in the arsenal of a business person or youth. New product is characterized by the use of quality materials and good build quality.

Input device

Lenovo Z50-75

The model Lenovo Z50-75 has a brand full-size keyboard AccuType with additional numeric unit that can be useful to many (accountants, students and programmers). The layout of the keys is presented in a classic American version (US ANSI) with a single-level [Enter] and oblong [Left Shift] and [Backspace]. The keys have a proprietary form of caps. They are based on membrane-scissor mechanism and have the following dimensions: main - 15 x 15 mm; functional series - 13 x 8 mm; numeric keypad - 15 x 15 mm. The keys have a nice travel and almost silent running, characterized be mean response. Any additional keys are not available. The only remark is not a very good block of arrows, located in the same row with the other buttons, as this can take some to get used to. Symbols have printing method with the usual resolution on the main (white) and functional (orange) key.

It is worth noting that the buttons [F4] and [F5] are tied to the functions of the "Close" and "Update", which does not require the use of combination [Fn] + [Alt] + [F4] / [F5]. This solution makes it easier to work within Windows.

The under palm are has considerable size, which is useful for prolonged use. Basis of keyboard unit is well secured.

Lenovo Z50-75

The touchpad has a considerable size (100 x 53 mm) and dedicated keys. The last are stiff to press and marked by a click at a moderate level. Fingers slip across the touchpad is quite pleasant. Basic sensitivity is overstated, but it easily adapts via the driver. Press processing is high. Also there is a support of multi-touch gestures. It is impossible to disable touchpad.

Display, webcam, sound

Lenovo Z50-75 Lenovo Z50-75

Laptop Lenovo Z50-75 is equipped with 15.6-inch display BOE HB156FH1-301 with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 (Full HD), which is a huge advantage of new item. The matrix is made by technology TN+film and has a glossy finish and WLED-backlit. It is characterized by quite good viewing angles (at the optimal location perpendicular to the screen) and contrast, as well as ample supply of brightness for home use. But due to the nature of the coating it actively collects dust particles. In addition, the display difficult copes with the gradient displaying, especially when viewing videos or playing games. Most likely, this is just a particular feature of the test sample.

Lenovo Z50-75

Webcam has a 1.3 megapixel unit, which is equipped with two directional microphones and operation indicator. There is the possibility of shooting video with a resolution of 1280 x 720 (HD). This is enough to produce quite high-quality picture and sound during all sorts of Web conferencing and video calls.

Lenovo Z50-75

Audio subsystem Lenovo Z50-75 is represented by two speakers with support for technology Dolby Home Theater, located closer to the back of the base. The role of the audio codec performs fairly new Conexant CX20751/2. Low frequencies are virtually absent, as well as a sense of spaciousness, but the sound is loud and clear even at maximum volume. In general sound subsystem features should be enough for comfortable viewing video or gaming, and if necessary, you can connect headphones or external speakers.
