According to the title, the company Deepcool was created for the production of cooling systems. And it copes with such task at the highest level. Just remember the testing of the CPU cooler Deepcool GAMER STORM LUCIFER. However, its range is not limited and contains other components of computer systems: the cases, power supplies, stands and various peripherals. In this review we‘ll take a closer look to the power supply Deepcool DQ750.

This model belongs to the lineup of modular power supplies Deepcool DQ (Quanta), for which the manufacturer is the flagship one. Also it includes Deepcool DA (Aurora), Deepcool DN (Nova) and Deepcool DE. Devices of lineup Deepcool Quanta match the level of certification 80 PLUS Gold, Deepcool Aurora - 80 PLUS Bronze, and Deepcool Nova and Deepcool DE do not support this standard. So, in addition to compliance with the standard 80 PLUS Gold, the top lid indicates about the nominal power (750 W) and support of bunch NVIDIA SLI/AMD CrossFire, and also indicated the presence of a blue LED-backlight of 140-mm fan and MTBF (120 thousand hours, and this - 5,000 days or more than 13 years of continuous operation 24/7). We could not check the last statement, so we have to believe every word, especially since the unit motto «Enjoy your cool life».

The tested model is designed in ATX format with standard dimensions (160 x 150 x 86 mm). Its body is made of steel and painted in dark gray matte color. The manufacturer tried to give a pleasant view to version Deepcool DQ750, which would correspond to its positioning in the market.

On the upper side we find familiar to many grill. It is slightly recessed into the body, so will not prevent the installation of the power supply in buildings with its lower placement. The side wall contains the specification for the maximum load on the input and output lines. All necessary information is available on the photo. We note only that the new product can operate over a wide input voltage range (100 – 240 V). The most required channel is +12 V. It is a single line with a load capacity of 62 A and a maximum power of 744 W. In theory, Deepcool DQ750 is a basis of powerful gaming system with two graphics cards.

The model Deepcool DQ750 has the technology Fan Delay Cool, which provides an additional rotation of the fan after shutdown of the power supply for improved and uniform cooling of the circuit elements.

Proceeding to the circuitry of the power supply Deepcool DQ750, it should be noted that it is assembled on a platform of OEM-manufacturer CWT, so the appearance of the board is almost identical to the previously reviewed PSU CHIEFTEC GPM-750C.

All circuitry is very similar also. Thus, here is a filter for smoothing high frequency noise emitted into the network by power supply. It consists of a pair of X capacitors, four Y-capacitors, two chokes and a varistor.

After them is a rectifier on two diode assemblies GBU606 (6 A each) with a separate radiator. In close proximity is the active unit of power factor correction (APFC) and single-pin forward converter with two keys Infineon 6R125P. Next to a radiator is another transistor. It is a part of the standby power unit +5VSB.

Further circuitry is common for today's powerful power supply: the main voltage is +12V. The power part consists of four transistors 72T03GH (two per channel), which are under control of the PWM controller APW7159. Do note that this joint is located directly on the board with modular connectors.

At the output of the line +12V electrolytic capacitors SamXon are installed. Based on user feedback, the quality can be described as average. It should be noted that all the elements belong to the high-temperature series (up to 105°C), which allows to count on their long service life.

Perhaps the only significant difference of the scheme Deepcool DQ750 from CHIEFTEC GPM-750C is the application of threaded ferrite windings in stabilizing and smoothing circuit. This should reduce the ripple.
