Packaging and content

Smartphone Sigma mobile X-treme PQ15 is available in relatively large cardboard box. It has a nice and quite informative design.

The front side of the box has a depiction of the smartphone, the name and logo of the manufacturer. The rear part contains a small sticker with the product's data (full name of the device, IMEI, serial number), and a standard legal information from the manufacturer. On the side faces of the package is a complete list of the technical advantages of a smartphone, among which are: support for two SIM-cards, removable lithium-ion battery with capacity of 3600 mA*h and a wide range of communication modules.

Supplied set of a new item is pretty standard. It contains the usual set of elements. The box includes: charger; USB-cable with extended connector; adapter USB OTG with function Powerbank; wired headset with vacuum type headphones; miniature screwdriver to unscrew the bolts that hold the back cover of the smartphone, as well as basic documentation and warranty card.

Design and elements layout

All features of smartphone Sigma mobile X-treme PQ15 indicate its protective properties. Aggressive design, cut faces, plenty of hard plastic, tempered glass and metal mounting bolts at the base of the housing give device and brutality and male character. It looks like a modern gadget intended to conquer the roads or rocky mountains. Like its congener, Sigma mobile X-treme PQ22B, the novelty belongs to the segment of the Class IP67, which means complete protection against dust and safe dive to a depth of 1 m for 30 minutes.

Sigma mobile X-treme PQ15

The basis of the test body of the smartphone is a high quality rubberized plastic. It gives the device an excellent rigidity and its owner gets more confidence in the reliability of the gadget. Despite the impressive dimensions (130 x 70 x 19.1 mm) and considerable weight (208 g), the smartphone is very comfortable in the palm of your hand, and its relative weight does not create noticeable discomfort. On the contrary, the weight of the device allows more confident to keep it even with wet or dirty hands, without fear of drop or even break device.

Sigma mobile X-treme PQ15 is available in three colors: black, orange and green. This coloring fits into the concept of a protected device, perfectly complementing its active orientation.

Sigma mobile X-treme PQ15

The front side of the smartphone is fully covered with a protective glass Corning Gorilla Glass 2. It copes with its direct responsibilities, but has no any oleophobic coating, so rather quickly collects fingerprints. Given the class of the device, the frame around the display can be called moderately large: 26 mm above and 29 mm from the bottom, and 11.5 mm on the sides. This is because the sidewall gadget stands out above the outline of the screen, thereby providing additional protection for the display when dropped. In general, this is not much impact on the convenience of using a smartphone, but may cause a little discomfort for some people.

The aforementioned sidewalls made of rubberized plastic of complex shape. They resemble a tire tread of a rally car and a pretty good device to protect against external influences. However, do not forget that Sigma mobile X-treme PQ15 still refers to the water- and dustproof devices, so it is not afraid of strong shocks or falls from a great height.

Above the display unit are: proximity and lighting sensors, LED indicator, earpiece grille and front camera lens. Below the screen are three touch buttons classic "Back", "Home" and "Menu", which have a pleasant light. Also hare a stylish logo of the manufacturer.

The number of possible keys and elements made on the edges of novelty can cause surprise. However, it doesn’t take too much time to get used for such aspect. The only drawback may be the fact that due to the thickness of the protective seals, the unit can be connected to only a limited list of peripheral devices that are equipped with an elongated connector, such as the ones that come in the package.

Thus, the right lateral side of the gadget contains: the power and call button of the last dialed number, a special key «SOS» and button for activate the camera. In this case, the left side face has a volume rocker, radio power button and quickly jumps to the messaging menu, as well as a large key «PPT» (Push-To-Talk), which is responsible for Internet radio «Zello».

The top part of the smartphone has an infrared port hole that bears a strong resemblance in appearance of flashlight, than can easily be misleading without informing the user. Here is a 3.5mm audio jack for headset port and micro-USB. They are hidden under a thick rubber cover that protects against moisture and dust. As for the lower bound, it is devoid of any connectors and components.

The back side of Sigma mobile X-treme PQ15 is made of high quality plastic. Despite its roughness, it is quite pleasant to the touch and also perfectly hides fingerprints. On the top you can find the main camera lens, single LED flash and the lattice of multimedia speaker. And at the bottom is a small fastening strap or sword-knot.

Plastic cover separates these two parts. It is attached to the base with two screws. It is decorated by another manufacturer's logo, stylized as a small metal plate. Under the lid is securely hidden removable lithium-ion battery, two slots for card format Mini-SIM and memory card slot of format microSD. And here is attached rubber seal to prevent moisture getting into the smartphone.

As for the possible claims to the build quality of smartphone Sigma mobile X-treme PQ15, here they are absent. As befits a secure device class IP67, all the parts are fitted tightly: no hint of the backlash or gaps. Gadget also boasts of excellent rigidity: even under strong pressure the geometry of the device cannot be changed, and the display has strains or other visible artifacts.

Display

Contrary to the general tendency to increase the size of the diagonals and dimensions of modern smartphones, developers of Sigma mobile X-treme PQ15 decided to equip with smaller but quite pleasant screen.

Sigma mobile X-treme PQ15

The novelty has received a 3.5-inch display based on IPS-matrix with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and a pixel density at 267 ppi. It can be considered as quite good indicator. Although the level of detailing is not a record, but it is more than enough for everyday use and displaying various information. The only thing that may be a minor problem is the aspect of displaying of small fonts.

Used IPS-matrix refers to the middle class panels. In general, the display unit has a good color reproduction with pretty bright color. And the contrast is sufficient for most everyday tasks, including displaying of dynamic games.

Viewing angles can also be called quite comfortable. When the vertical and horizontal deflection, the display remains legible, but the diagonal view picture fades and becomes noticeably faded.

The display backlighting is at high level and has a good range of adjustment, which in turn allows you to use your smartphone as a bright sunny day and in low light conditions.

Tempered glass Corning Gorilla Glass of second generation is designed to protect the screen from scratches and chips. Unfortunately, it does not have oleophobic coating and collects fingerprints.

Built-in touch substrate can recognize up to 5 simultaneous touches. The screen is quite sensitive. Despite the lack of oleophobic coating, finger sliding is pleasant and does not cause any discomfort. The support to work in gloves is not available, but in this case it would be very helpful.

Sound

Sigma mobile X-treme PQ15

Model Sigma mobile X-treme PQ15 is equipped with a multimedia speaker that features a good sound. It is located on the rear side of the gadget to the right of the main camera lens. Since the tested smartphone belongs to a class of protected smart devices, a speaker hole is covered by a special water-repellent membrane so obtained sound is muted. But in general, this factor is not really interfere with using the device to make calls, watching videos, games and other needs, without having to use additional audio devices. Moreover, despite the abundance of plastic and a significant thickness of the case, a range has clearly visible high and medium frequencies, and depending on the genre has of a small hint of bass.

Sigma mobile X-treme PQ15

In addition, the smartphone contains a 3.5 mm audio jack that allows you to connect external audio devices. Wired supplied headset has a good and fairly clean sound. It is perfect for phone calls or listening to simple songs and podcasts. And the presence of quite good software equalizer allows to fine-tune the sound for specific user requests.

Also pleasant is the quality of earpiece. It is rather loud and sharp, can provide a pleasant sound transmission. However, considering this option don’t forget about the service operator, and the status of the phone conversation.
