The graphics card is shipped in bright cardboard packaging, with known to us color gamut due to another series of graphics accelerators HIS IceQ X². As is known, this series stands out for its cooling system on the basis of the two fans that operate quietly and efficiently than the reference SB.

The front side of the box has notions indicating about the presence of a complete CD with software HIS iTurbo, as well as the capability to output images in resolution 4K Ultra HD.

This set makes it easy to get started with graphics accelerator, and connect it to a digital or analog display (thanks to the supplied adapter with built-in D-Sub). If necessary, users will have to purchase the adapters for 6-pin PCIe and bridge AMD CrossFireX.

Graphics accelerator is made on a blue textolite. Its height is 112 mm, and the layout is very similar to the reference circuit from AMD. The graphics chip is equipped with a protective frame to protect it from chips and scratches when removing and installing the cooling system.

The graphics card is equipped with a reinforced 7-phase power subsystem. Five phases on the basis of chips RENESAS 20658 DrMOS with design is responsible for the power of the GPU and another two are for PLL and memory chips. Its circuits also use solid capacitors which are designed for continuous operation in mode 24/7.

Chip CHiL CHL8225G is used as the controller. It has the function of dynamic phase disconnection to save energy at low load.

It uses a slot PCI Express 3.0 x16 and two additional 6-pin PCIe. Their connection and disconnection is slightly difficult due to located near a heat pipe of cooling system.

On the reverse side of the PCB there are some elements of the power subsystem that screws the cooling system, a few labels with technical information, as well as the metal frame, which protects the PCB from deformation and damage.

The basis of the graphics card HIS H270XQM2G2M is graphics chip AMD Curacao XT. It is made by a 28-nm process and is composed of 1280 unified shader pipelines, 80 texture units and 32 ROPs. Graphic processor is running at frequency 1000 MHz at rated speed and 1050 MHz in the dynamic mode.

Memory is collected by using 8 chips SK Hynix H5GQ2H24AFR with capacity 256 MB each (total 2 GB). Effective working memory frequency is at 5600 MHz, and the exchange of data with graphics chip is realized via 256-bit bus the capacity of which is equal to 179.2 GB/s.

Cooling system

Novelty is equipped with a proprietary cooling system IceQ X² which occupies two slots for expansion cards. According to the measurements in our lab, the total length of the video card with installed cooling system is 276 mm, and height - 125 mm. The front part of the cooler is covered by the metal casing, which not only gives the graphics accelerator original appearance, but also protects the user from contact with the radiator (it is sufficiently heated during operation).

For blowing and heat dissipation there are two fans FirstD FD7010H12D with a diameter of 86 mm. Special curved shape of the blade is specifically designed to increase airflow and reduce noise.

To remove the heat a copper pad is used. It is in contact with the GPU through a thin layer of thermal paste. Also during cooling process five heat pipes with a diameter of 6 mm are applied. As fins, they are covered with a layer of nickel, which can protect these components from oxidation during use, thereby extending battery life in the optimal range.

The heatpipes are connected to a copper pad with thermal glue and with heatsink fins they are soldered (soldering quality is average).

Also, an additional metal plate is provided. It is in contact with the memory chips and the elements of the power system through special thermal pads. It acts as a heat sink and removes heat from these components, which is then dissipated through active airflow.

In the automatic control mode of fan speed, at maximum load, the GPU was heated up to 51°C. At the same time the cooler was working very quietly and rotated only 26% of its maximum speed, which corresponds to 1344 rpm.

After the forced rotation of turntable at the maximum speed (3591 rpm) the core temperature is dropped to 44°C. The level of noise was rose to "above average", but it remained acceptable for long-term work at the computer. In most cases, this mode is only useful when performing acceleration or for load testing.

In idle mode the GPU frequency decreased to 300 MHz, and the temperature dropped to 27°C. Cooler was working for 20% of its maximum speed (1323 rpm), and it was practically silent compared to other system components.
